Timothy “Tim” W. Powers, 45, of Shelbyville, IL, died at 12:20 p.m. Friday, October 10, 2014 in Shelby Memorial Hospital, as the result of an accident in the bus barn on the high school campus.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2014 in the First Church of the Nazarene in Shelbyville with Rev. Greg Breeden and Rev. Phillip Glick officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Monday and one hour before services Tuesday both in the church. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to the Scholarship Fund for the Powers Children or the First Church of the Nazarene, Shelbyville, IL. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville.

Tim was born on October 11, 1968 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Darrell Eugene and Zelma Eileen Donnel Powers. He graduated from Findlay High School in the Class of 1986. Tim began working as a service technician for Patterson-Tice John Deere Dealership in Shelbyville. He then worked for Hennings Farms and Farm Pride both in Shelbyville. In 2011, Tim became the Transportation Director for the Shelbyville Community Unit School District #4. He also farmed and for many years carried the Decatur Herald and Review newspaper in rural Shelbyville. Tim was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Shelbyville. He participated in FFA and 4-H in his youth and enjoyed watching his children become involved in the same organizations. He married Carol Dawn Graven on August 26, 1989 in Findlay, IL.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; son, Cory Powers at Eastern Illinois University, Charleston, IL; daughters, Morgan and Taylor Powers both at home; parents, Darrell and Eileen Powers of Findlay, IL; brothers, Donald Powers of Shelbyville, IL, John Powers and wife Bonnie of Windsor, IL, Rick Powers and wife Cathy of St. Joseph, IL, Jim Powers and wife Bonnie of Findlay, IL; sisters, Cindy Johnson of Shelbyville, IL and Bonnie White of Mattoon, IL; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Glen and Rita Donnel and Otis and Eva Powers; sister, Julie Powers and sister-in-law, Marla Powers.
