Vera was born on August 7, 1954 in Atlanta, GA, the daughter of Sam P. and Hazel I. Taylor Sorrells. She was a cook at the Reservoir Manor in Shelbyville. She married Herman Colón on August 8, 1992. He died on July 25, 2005.
Surviving are her daughters, Samantha Boarman and husband Brian of Tower Hill and Katie Bridges and husband Gavin of Port Charlotte, FL; sister, Jeri Taber of Detroit, MI; and grandchildren, Katelyn and Camryn Boarman and Austin Bridges.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband.
