Vera L Corley

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, July 2, 2018 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Pastor Edmund Hill officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery in Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the New Hope Baptist Church, Tower Hill, IL.
Vera was born on June 19, 1918 in Shelbyville, IL, the daughter of Thomas Leslie and Orpha Amelia (Friesner) Tate. She worked for the BorgWarner Company in Decatur, IL for several years. Vera was a former member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Tower Hill, IL. She married Wilbur F. Corley on June 26, 1938 in St. Charles, MO, and he preceded her in death on January 23, 1992.
She is survived by her daughters, Joyce Pauley (Roger) of Tower Hill, IL, and Mary Lou Warren (Jim) of Wonder Lake, IL; grandchildren, Marla Cherry (Mark) of Wonder Lake, IL, Jason Warren (Colleen) of Harvard, IL, Sheri Trexler of Pana, IL, and Sandy Calvert (Rick) of Hillsboro, IL; fourteen great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilbur; brothers, Harley T. Tate (Lila), Clifford E. “Priff” Tate (Frances), and Clarence L. “Jack” Tate (Vivian); and sisters, Inez L. Gordon (Lawrence), Lois M. Gordon (Elmer “Bud”), and Ruth Martin (Charles, Sr.).
