Vera May Brown, 77, of Windsor, Illinois, died at 4:25 a.m. Sunday, December 14, 2008 in her husband’s arms at their home.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 21, 2008 in the Windsor United Methodist Church with Rev. Kathy Minor officiating. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral in Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to the Windsor United Methodist Church or Quad County Hospice.

Vera was born on May 15, 1931 in Irving, IL, the daughter of Alfred and Winnie Fern Broyles Christerson. She graduated from Stephen Decatur High School in the Class of 1949. She was a bookkeeper for several trucking companies and their recreational vehicle business and later was a clerk at the Windsor Market. Vera was a member of the Windsor United Methodist Church. She married Kenwood Brown on August 8, 1964.

Surviving are her husband, Kenwood; sons, Kenneth (Gina) Ireland of Andalusia, AL and Wayne (Sue) Ireland of Sidney, ME; daughters, Linda (Dennis) Brown of Findlay, IL and Ann Silvius of Lake Mary, FL; sister, Mary (Merle) Nichols of Findlay, IL; ten grandchildren, LeAnn (Will) Skarupa, Jarrett (Susan) Brown, Bobby (Karla) Silvius, Michael (Cher) Silvius, Karen Isabella, Danny Ireland, Nick (Kari) Ireland, Kenny (Gina) Ireland, Tony (Theresa) Ireland and Jeff (Natalie) Ireland; 16 great grandchildren, Lauren and Trent Skarupa, Peyton, Bailey and Parker Brown, Stephanie, Logan, Mitchell, Nolan, Nathanael and Hannah Silvius, Anthony Isabella, and Nicole, Rachel, Zachary and Benjamin Ireland; several nieces and nephews including, Christy (Bob) Spellman of Mt. Zion, Debra (Jerry) Bostek of Decatur and Carey Floyd of Decatur; and many special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Winnie Christerson; son-in-law, Bob Silvius; brothers, Alfred and Robert Christerson; and great grandson, Trevor Skarupa.
