Vera M Schmitt

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 24, 2020 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Strasburg, IL with Rev. Joel Cluver officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Monday, in the church. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Strasburg, IL. Memorials may be given to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or Hawthorne Inn. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg, IL.

Vera was born on November 3, 1922 in Stewardson, IL, the daughter of Edward and Lydia (Rincker) Hartman. She was baptized on November 17, 1922 and confirmed in the faith on April 5, 1936. During WWII, Vera worked at the Sangamon Ordinance Plant in Illiopolis, IL. She married Roy Frederick Schmitt on January 12, 1946. Roy and Vera then worked together in their family farming operation. Vera was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Strasburg and the Shelby County Farm Bureau.
Vera is survived by her daughters, Irene Pechman (Kenneth) of De Pere, WI, and Doris Supan (August) of Strasburg, IL; brother, Dwane Hartman (Maude) of Stewardson, IL; sister-in-law, Rhea Hartman of Shumway, IL; four grandchildren, Erin Supan-Levanduski (Jason) of Cleveland, OH, Heather Allmann (Matt) of Appleton, WI, Adam Pechman of St. Paul, MN, and Jonathan Pechman of St. Paul, MN; 4 great grandchildren, Elliot and Nolan Allman, and August and Adeleine Levanduski; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy; brothers, Ervin and Harold Hartman; and brother-in-law, Clark Schmitt and wife Helen.
