Victor R Zinn, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 2, 2018 at Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday and one hour before services on Friday. Casual attire is requested. Masonic rites will be held at 8:00 p.m. Thursday by the Jackson Masonic Lodge #53 of Shelbyville, IL. Burial will be in Windsor Cemetery, Windsor, IL with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to the American Lung Association for Pulmonary Fibrosis.
Ron was born on October 6, 1943 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Victor Rolland and Vera Ruth (Shoemake) Zinn, Sr. He was a graduate of Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1961 and then served in the U. S. Air Force. Ron worked for Caterpillar, Inc. in Decatur until his retirement in 1998. He also owned and operated J & R Heating and Air Conditioning in Shelbyville, IL. Ron was a member of the Roy Vanderpool American Legion Post #81 and Jackson Masonic Lodge #53 both of Shelbyville, IL, the National Hot Rod Association and Eastern Illinois Rat Racers. He enjoyed drag racing at the Coles County Dragway under the name of “Papa Zinn Racing”. He married Bonnie J. Cozart on December 30, 1968.
He is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie; his four children, Bart Rickett of Champaign, IL, Rhonda Ruholl of Shelbyville, IL, Ashli Overton (Chris) of Mattoon, IL and Ryan Zinn (Michelle) of Pana, IL; siblings, Patricia Allen of Salt Lake City, UT, Gary Zinn (Lynn) of Smyrna, GA, and Jolene Wirth (Jim) of Hunter, KS; half-sister, Vickie Graham (Steve) of Pensacola, FL; grandchildren, Casaundra “Cassi” Killam, Caitlyn Killam, Sawyer Overton, Lynsey Overton, Lane Ruholl, and Brayden Zinn; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Victor and Vera Zinn, Sr.
