Graveside services will be held in Harlington Cemetery, Waverly, Iowa at a later date. Howe and Yockey Funeral Home in Shelbyville is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be given to Shelby Christian Church in Shelbyville.
Viola was born on January 7, 1913 in Hawarden, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Emma (Thompson) Schield. She was a receptionist at San Diego City College. She attended Shelby Christian Church in Shelbyville. She was a member of the Red Hat Society of Shelbyville and also enjoyed playing Bunco.
Surviving are her daughters, Dianne (Jim) Harmon of Shorewood, IL and Sandra (Jerry) Dubro of Sequim, WA; three grandchildren, Kristeen, Matthew and Kevin Harmon; special niece, Donna (John) Russell of Shelbyville; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Wilbur, Vern, Rae and Rev. Russell Schield; and two sisters, Myrtle Nelson and Lura Reynolds.
