Viola L. Fisher, 86, formerly of Shelbyville, Peoria, and Crystal Lake, passed away at McAuley Manor in Aurora, IL, on Wednesday, July 12. She was a resident of the Holmstad Retirement Community in Batavia, IL.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 PM on Tuesday, July 18, 2006, in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home in Shelbyville, IL. Graveside services will be held at the Glenwood Cemetery in Shelbyville, IL, directly after the visitation with Rev. Kevin Ray officiating. Memorials can be made to The Holmstad Good Samaritan Fund, 700 W. Fabyan Parkway, Batavia, IL 60510, (630/879-4000) or Vitas Hospice,580 Waters Edge, Suite 100, Lombard, IL 60148, (630/495-8484). Following the graveside service, family and friends are invited to meet at the Senior Center in Shelbyville for a time of fellowship at 3:00 p.m.

Viola was born on September 25, 1919, in Ipswich, SD, to Carl Golden and Lulu Mae Woollen Ross. Viola was a life-long member of the United Methodist Church and was very active in the church her entire life. She was a 50-year member of the Eastern Star and the Home Bureau. She married Wilmer Carl Fisher on September 3, 1939, in Herman, IL. They have had a wonderful and loving 67 years together.

She leaves behind her husband, her two daughters, Jeanie L. (John) Van Leirsburg of Batavia, IL, and Janet L. (Richard) Colvin of Brimfield, IL. Also surviving are two sisters, N. Maxine Swanson of Brooklyn, NY, and Illa Fox of Shelbyville, IL; and brother-in-law, Ervil Fisher of Shelbyville, IL. Also left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren—C. Mark (Maureen) Colvin of Dunlap, IL, Darren (Angela) Colvin of Bedford, NH, Tracie (Marcus) Lake of Mason, WI, and Morgan (Michael) Connell of Batavia, IL, and five great grandchildren.

Her parents; three brothers, Lowell, Carl, and Everett Ross; and two sisters, Louise Pflugradt and Mary Endsley; preceded her in death.

Viola was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.
