Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2018 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Steve Neville officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Tuesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Cowden, IL. Memorials may be given to Cowden Free Methodist Church.
Vi was born on April 16, 1934 in Shelbyville, IL, the daughter of Charles Freeman and Elsie Aretta (Hapner) Nigh. She owned and Operated Vi’s Flower Shop in Cowden, IL for many years. Vi was a member of the Free Methodist Church in Cowden, IL and was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. She married James Frederick Jones on June 8, 1964 and he preceded her in death on February 24, 2004.
She is survived by her sister, Margie Carroll (Earl) of Litchfield Park, AZ; step-daughter, Darlene Anderson (Mike) of Fairhope, AL; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and cousin, Jim Hapner (Phyllis) of Shelbyville, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Frederick Jones; and step-son, James Robert Jones.
