Virginia M Vermillion

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday (Jan. 17, 2008) in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Father Don Wolford officiating. Visitation one hour before services. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to donor’s choice.
Virginia was born on November 28, 1918 in Shelbyville, the daughter of James Patrick and Mary Alice Lape Kearney. She grew up in the “Dugout” area of Shelbyville. She worked for the Illinois Secretary of State in the Telephone Title Department for 11 years and License Remitter for 21 years. In later years, Virginia was a caregiver in the Springfield area. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Shelbyville. She married Albert G. “Bill” Vermillion on November 17, 1934 in Charleston, IL. He died on September 17, 1976.
Surviving are her nieces and nephews, Mary Ann Lowery (Gordon) of Springfield, OH, Rita Goodman (Chuck) of Arthur, Nancy Oxley of Platteville, WI, Pat Purcell (Charles) of Shelbyville, Leroy Kearney of Lovington, Jim Kearney of Phoenix, AZ, Dean Kearney of Decatur, Margaret of IN, Earl Vermillion and Ramond Vermillion both of Pekin, Bill Vermillion of Morton, Linda Hindahl of East Peoria and several in Chicago and Chetek, WI; sister-in-law, Jerri Kearney of Ravina, MI; and a dear friend and caregiver, Carol Scroggins of Tower Hill.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; son, Robert James Vermillion in 1957; brothers, Thomas, Paul and John Kearney; sisters, Catherine Wall and Agnes Sawyer.
