Vivian H Tate

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 6, 2018 in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Kevin Ray officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather at Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Friday. The family requests no food. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the First Christian Church of Shelbyville or the Activity Fund at Shelbyville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
Vivian was born on May 28, 1917 in Lakewood, IL, the daughter of Thomas and Nell (Clark) Canavan, Jr. She attended Shelbyville High School and began working in 1933 at the Shelbyville Garment Factory. She transferred to the Mattoon Garment Factory when the Shelbyville location closed. Vivian was a member of the First Christian Church in Shelbyville, IL. She married Clarence L. “Jack” Tate on September 25, 1938. He died on October 29, 1987.
She is survived by her son, Jackie L. “Jack” Tate of Shelbyville, IL; and sister-in-law, Vera (Tate) Corley of Wonder Lake, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; Clarence L. “Jack” Tate; daughter-in-law, Suzanne L. Tate; and brothers, Glenn, Gilbert, and Jack Canavan.
