Walter A Ramsey

A memorial graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 30, 2018 in Wright Cemetery, near Findlay, IL with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Family and friends are invited to gather at 1:00 p.m. Monday at Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL to drive in procession to the cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Shelbyville Area Community Foundation for the General Dacey Trail.
Walter was born on December 7, 1935 Chicago, IL, the son of Clarence and Charlotte Elsa (Gunther) Ramsey. He was a 1953 graduate of Downers Grove High School in Downers Grove, IL and a 1957 graduate of DePauw University, Greencastle, IN with a degree in economics. Walter then served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1957-1960. He worked in Chicago for many years as an investment professional, specializing in stocks. Walter married Nannette A. Ahalt on May 30, 1979 in Wheaton, IL. After retiring, they moved to rural Shelbyville and made it their home. Nannette died on March 16, 2015.
Walter is survived by his sisters-in-law, Francine Strayhorn of Greensboro, NC and Laura Harris of Burlington, NC.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Nannette.
