Wanda A. Holley, 87, of Shelbyville, passed away at 2:35 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at the Shelbyville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2012 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. Mark Sanders officiating. Visitation from noon – 1:00 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to Saving Orphaned Animals, Shelbyville, IL.

Wanda was born on March 8, 1925 in rural Shelby County, IL, the daughter of Claude and Volley Shell Allison. She was one of seven daughters in the Allison family. She married the love of her life, Melvin R. Holley, April 25, 1943 in St. Charles, MO. Wanda worked at Ginnie Lou Sta-Rite facility several years helping make bomb wires and packing bobby pins and curlers. Her greatest passion in life was always her grandkids and great grandkids. All the days they came to grandma’s after school were a treat. She enjoyed family dinners were she could show off her cooking talents. In prior years, she and Mel enjoyed square dancing and listening to fiddle music.

Wanda leaves behind daughters, Kayla Sphar and Louise Utsler both of Shelbyville, IL; son, James Holley (Barbara) of Shelbyville, IL; grandchildren, Holly Corley (Mark) of Olive Branch, MS, Matthew Holley (Evert) of Indianapolis, IN, Mark Holley (Jamie) of Champaign, IL, Dean Utsler (Amy) of Mattoon, IL and Regina Nelson (Tim) of Lake St. Louis, MO; great grandchildren, Allyson and Taylor Corley of Olive Branch, MS, Trey and Jackson Utsler of Mattoon, IL, and Ian and Mackenzie Nelson of Lake St. Louis, MO; and sisters, Glendora Wakefield of Effingham, IL and Barbara Lamb (Buck) of Shelbyville, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin Holley on August 31, 1995; sisters, Ferol Anderson, Rosalind Mars, Dorothy Griffith and Hazel Fleming; son-in-law, Dean Utsler; and great granddaughter, Tierney Elizabeth Holley.
