Wayne Edward Decker , 79, of Mode, IL, entered eternal rest at 7:48 a.m. Sunday, November 28, 2021 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Mattoon, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 4, 2021 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL.   Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.  Casual attire is requested.  Masks are requested and guests are encouraged to practice safe social distancing.  Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Strasburg, IL.  Memorials may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice or to the family.

Wayne was born on November 2, 1942 in Jacksonville, IL, the son of Oscar and Geneva Morris Decker.  He worked as a truck driver for many years traveling all over the United States.  Wayne previously worked as a union painter.  He had a contagious laugh and smile known by all.  Wayne enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating on the lake with his kids and grandkids, and riding his beloved horses.  Wayne also enjoyed his 50s and 60s rock-n-roll!  He married Linda K. West on November 25, 1989.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; nine children, Lisa Decker of Greenfield, Wayne Decker, Jr. (Mandy) of Murrayville, Teresa Beddingfield (Kevin) of Roodhouse, Robin Decker of Roodhouse, Sherrie Plummer (Jim) of Newton, AL, Tina Hill (Jeff) of Mattoon, Teresa Tabbert (Paul) of Stewardson, Joe Price and Barrett Price both of Mode; 29 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Karen Decker of Jacksonville, IL; and brother-in-law, Bill West (Lisa) of Long Lane, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Edmond Decker; sons, Marlon Price and Steve Probst; bonus daughter, Dena Elsarelli; uncle, Earl “Preech” Morris; grandson, Nathan Price; and great granddaughter, Katie Ledger.

Wayne will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.  His memories will forever be cherished.
