Wayne Largent

Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, October 2, 2015 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. A private graveside service will be held with Rev. Ron Newman officiating and Military Rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to the Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois.
Wayne was born on November 9, 1934 in rural Tower Hill, IL, the son of Frank and Martha Johnson Largent. He was a graduate of Tower Hill High School and then served in the U. S. Army. Wayne farmed in the Tower Hill area and also worked for the A. E. Staley Manufacturing Company, Decatur, IL, in Research and Development, retiring in 1989. He was a dedicated hunter and outdoorsman. He married Sharon L. Swam.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon; sons, Doug Largent and wife Bec of Springfield, MO and Greg Largent and wife Cindy of Dawson, IL; two granddaughters, Brooke and Maida; two grandsons, Eldon and Bo; two great grandchildren, Nicole and Ethan; sister-in-law, Judy Ray and husband Larry; three nephews; one niece; and one great niece.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Amy; sisters, Edna Massey and Ruby Bennett; infant sister, Clara Largent; beloved mother-in-law, Myra Swam; and brother-in-law, Mike Swam.
