Wendell Anderson
(October 21, 1922 – April 03, 2007)
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville with Rev. Jeff Grote officiating and military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday with Masonic rites at 10:30 a.m. in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or donor’s choice.
Mr. Anderson was born on October 21, 1922 in Mattoon, Illinois, the son of George Oliver and Mary Valetta Brady Anderson. He graduated from Mattoon High School and was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II. He worked for the Oliver Corporation in Shelbyville and later retired from Fedders Corporation in Effingham. Wendell was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Shelbyville and Jackson Masonic Lodge #53 of Shelbyville. He was active in the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) in Shelbyville, volunteering at the Shelbyville Manor and Hawthorne Inn. He married E. Lenore Doepel on July 19, 1942. She died on March 8, 2005.
Surviving are his sisters, Charlene Quakenbush of Mattoon and Teresa Replogle of Charleston; good friends, Harold Duggins of Shelbyville and Olive Small of Shelbyville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lenore; and sister, Patricia Richardson.
