Wilbur A Kingston
(February 10, 1935 – November 30, 2019)
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 3, 2019 in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Kevin Ray officiating. The Shelby County Honor Guard will conduct military rites. Friends and family are invited to gather from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Casual attire is requested. There will be a luncheon at Tailwinds in Findlay, following the graveside services. Memorials may be given to Saving Orphaned Animals or First Christian Church in Shelbyville.
Wilbur was born on February 10, 1935, in “Dugout” near Shelbyville, IL, the son of Elmer and Doris Blancett Kingston. He attended Shelbyville High School and was a member of the Class of 1953. Wilbur served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1959. He was a carpet layer for Short’s Furniture in Shelbyville for many years and later worked as an electrical groundman for Shelby Electric Cooperative until his retirement in 1997. Wilbur enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals, hunting, fishing, and mushroom hunting. He was a member of the First Christian Church, VFW Post #4829 and Coon Hunters Club all in Shelbyville. He married Linda Diane Knudsen on April 28, 1972.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; daughter, Kari Ann Kingston of Shelbyville, IL; honorary daughter, Amy Jo Eschbaugh Stremming (Doug) of Strasburg, IL; honorary daughter and niece, Christina Lynn Cutler Grant (Gary) of Shelbyville, IL; honorary grandchildren and great nephew and niece, Tanner and Paige Coleman of Shelbyville, IL; brothers, Delbert Kingston of Decatur, IL and Aubrey Kingston (Helen) of Decatur, IL; several nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Bella.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James Kingston in infancy, Wayne Kingston and Elmer Kingston, Jr.; and sisters, Zelma Riley and Rosie Taylor.
