Wiley S Mathis

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2010 in Strasburg United Methodist Church, Strasburg, IL with Rev. Kathy Lewis officiating. Visitation from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg, IL with Masonic rites at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in Richland Cemetery, Strasburg, IL with military rites by Strasburg American Legion Post #289. Memorials may be given to Strasburg United Methodist Church, Strasburg American Legion Post #289 or Windsor Masonic Lodge #322.
Mr. Mathis was born on April 20, 1933 in Cypress, Illinois, the son of John Franklin and Leota Mae Stockdale Mathis. He graduated from Stewardson-Strasburg High School in the Class of 1951 and served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked for Caterpillar for 30 years until his retirement. Wiley was a member of the Strasburg United Methodist Church, Strasburg American Legion Post #289 and Windsor Masonic Lodge #322. He raised Beagles and enjoyed competing in field trials.
Surviving are his daughters, Treva Bradd and husband Mike of Mattoon, Twila Romoser and husband Rick of Orlando, FL and Thalia Roley and husband Kurt of Strasburg; brother, Carl Mathis and wife Rita of Henton; sisters, Daisy Briscoe and husband Leon of Sullivan and Mary Cress of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Kyle (Erin), Kourtney and Kaitlyn Bradd, Lucas and Jacob Romoser, and Adaire (Kris) Zalman, Alyssa and Abby Rincker, Calla Roney, and Kameron and Megan Roley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John and James Mathis; sister, Beulah Roellig; and grandson, Heath Roley.
