William D. “Bill” Beck , 71, of Loxa, IL, died on Thursday, December 15, 2022 in Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Mattoon, IL.

A visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Thursday, December 29, 2022 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, 415 N. Broadway, Shelbyville, IL.  A graveside service will be held at a later date in Glenwood Cemetery in Shelbyville, IL.  Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and mailed to Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, 415 N. Broadway, Shelbyville, IL 62565.

Bill was born on December 28, 1950 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Justin and Edna (Sievers) Beck.  He graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1968 and then attended Lake Land College until enlisting in the National Guard.  Following his service in the Guard, he worked at General Electric (GE).  Bill returned to Lake Land College for computer training for his position at GE, where he worked until his retirement.  He was an original member of the Fast Lane Van Club and Central Illinois Truckin’ Association (CITA) and enjoyed traveling to their various events.  He was quite talented at fixing things, whether it be an appliance, vehicle or electrical wiring.  Bill was always willing to lend a hand to help out a family member or friend.

He is survived by his two daughters, Kristi (Ray) Storm of Homer, IL and Kendra (Cesar Gutierrez) Beck of Ogden, IL; two granddaughters, Brittany (Tyler) Dickey and Payton Storm; four sisters, Shirley (Dan) Corbin of Richland Center, WI, Kay Van Ness of Clinton, IL, Barbara Meade of Inverness, FL and Janet Whitton of Texas; as well as various nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Justin “Slim” and Edna Beck.
