William K Dunaway
(August 29, 1925 – December 08, 2016)

William Kendall Dunaway, 91, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 4:20 a.m. Thursday, December 8, 2016 surrounded by his family.

Visitation will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Shelbyville on Saturday, December 10, 2016 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. The funeral will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. E. Wade Helmkamp officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the Shelbyville Chapter of the FFA.

William was born on August 29, 1925 in Cowden, IL, the son of William Calvin and Lila Prater Dunaway. He attended Cowden High School. William then farmed in Shelby County until he retired. William was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Shelbyville, IL.

He married Gladys Ilene Bolds on December 26, 1948 in Cowden, IL. They were married for almost 68 years.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys; daughters: Jacqueline Eberspacher, Jennifer (James) Case, and Jyl (Steve) Fathauer, all of Shelbyville, IL; Joyceline (Brad) Pancoast of Mt. Vernon, IL; son, James (Annette) Dunaway of Shelbyville, IL; grandchildren: Elizabeth (Jeff) Nohren, Ashley (Toby) Koonce, Shane (Leah) Fox, Drew (Heather) Fox, Nicholas (Ann) Dunaway, and Brock Dunaway, all of Shelbyville, IL; Catherine (Chris) Gahl of Carmel, IN; Ted (Katie) Eberspacher of Elmhurst, IL; Ryan (Holli) Pancoast of St. John, IN; Erica Pancoast (fiancé, Shane Carnine) of Mt. Vernon, IL; Jessica (Rico) Alcala of Sarasota, FL; Erin (Scott) Koester of Findlay, IL; Emily (Ryan) Cour of Springfield, IL; and Capt. Lucas (Emily) Dunaway of Watertown, NY. He was a loving great- grandfather to 22 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He also leaves one brother, Donald (Ruby) Dunaway of Cowden, IL and a sister-in-law, Marianna (Henry) Adkins of North Carolina.

He was a wonderful father and grandfather and will be sadly missed by them all.

William was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Carroll “Bud” Dunaway; sisters: Ruth Banning and Anne Huelskoetter; brothers-in-law, Paul Bolds, Lonnie Banning, and Dell Huelskoetter; sisters-in-law, Bettnia Dunaway and Bonnie Dunaway; and son-in-law, E. C. Eberspacher.

The family would like to thank the staff of Shelbyville Manor for their care and thoughtfulness during his stay.
