William P. “Bill” Grubbs, 77, of Shelbyville, formerly of Decatur, died at 1:15 a.m. Thursday, July 29, 2010 in Shelbyville Manor.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 31, 2010 in Marrowbone Twp. Cemetery, Bethany, Illinois with Rev. Dean Cripe officiating. Visitation from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Mr. Grubbs was born on September 9, 1932 in Decatur, IL, the son of George P. and Lucille Smith Grubbs. He graduated from Maroa High School in the Class of 1950. Bill worked for Illinois Power Company in Decatur for 44 years. He attended Mt. Zion Christian Church, Mt. Zion, IL. Bill loved to play the harmonica. His greatest joy in life was his wife of 58 years, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He married Verna L. Banning on September 16, 1951.

Surviving are his wife, Verna; son, George Grubbs and wife Penny of North Vernon, IN; daughters, Jacque McDonald and husband Jim of Shelbyville, Rebecca Miller and husband Patrick of Taylorville and Jeanne Hart-Aghaei and husband Tony of Mattoon; ten grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Shirley Snoke; and brother-in-law, Gerald Snoke.
