William T Duckett

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 23, 2015 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, with Rev. Kevin Ray officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday and one hour before service time Monday both in the funeral home. Burial will be in Helton Cemetery, Middlesworth, IL. Memorials may be given to the First Christian Church of Shelbyville, IL or Shelbyville Booster Foundation.
Mr. Duckett was born on April 2, 1932 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of J. B. and Fannie Murrel Martin Duckett. He graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1950. Bill then served in the 44th Infantry Division of the Illinois Army National Guard during the Korean Conflict. He worked for Illinois Consolidated Telephone Company until his retirement in 1997. Bill was a member and deacon of the First Christian Church of Shelbyville, IL. He loved to play pool and was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs. Bill married Helen Joy Helton in 1952.
He is survived by his wife, Joy; sons, Gary Duckett (Marilyn) of Shelbyville, Terry Duckett (Amy) of Shelbyville, Randy Duckett of Cape Coral, FL, Mark Duckett (Lindy) of Shelbyville, and Rick Duckett (Beth) of Shelbyville; daughter, Kathy Duckett of Shelbyville; sisters, Marilyn Scott of Findlay and Lula Thompson (James) of Shelbyville; 16 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Laci.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Bernard and Gerald “Jim” Duckett.
