Woodrow F McNeese

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 11, 2011 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Visitation from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Tower Hill Cemetery with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to Shelby County Senior Citizens Center or the Shelby County Honor Guard.
Mr. McNeese was born on January 3, 1918 near Cowden, Illinois, the son of Joseph Luther and Lutia Lenora Cooksey McNeese. He graduated from Tower Hill High School in the Class of 1935 and from Sparks Business College in Shelbyville. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II and retired from the U.S. Army Reserves in 1971 as a Lieutenant Colonel. He worked in the sand business for 36 years, retiring from Bellerose Silica, Utica, IL. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Roy Vanderpool American Legion Post #81 and V.F. W. Post #4829 all of Shelbyville, Pana Masonic Lodge #226 and Retired Reserve Officer’s Association. He participated in the Relay for Life in Shelbyville. He married Helen Marguerite Mathias on March 17, 1946.
Surviving are his wife, Marguerite; son, Patrick G. McNeese and wife Mary Ann of Tower Hill, IL; and brother, Ronald McNeese and wife Jackie of Surprise, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Roy and George McNeese and infant brother, William McNeese; and sisters, Virginia Huttes, Gladys Evans, Zora Zee and Daisy Morowit.
