Phillip S. Miller 

(September 4, 1941 – January 23, 2022)

Phillip Samuel Miller, 80, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, January 23, 2022 in his residence.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 27, 2022 in Lookout Addition of Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Greg Breeden officiating.  Memorials may be given to the National Rifle Association and mailed to Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, 415 N. Broadway, Shelbyville, IL 62565.

Phillip was born on September 4, 1941 in Mode, IL, the son of Samuel Franklin and Eileen (Reed) Miller.  He attended Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1959 and earned his diploma while in the service.  Phillip was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War.  He married Janet Kay Beasley on March 8, 1960 in Shelbyville, IL.  Phillip was an assembler at Caterpillar in Decatur until his retirement.  He was a member of Roy Vanderpool American Legion Post #81, V.F.W. Post #4829 and Jackson Masonic Lodge #53 all in Shelbyville, IL. He enjoyed hunting and gun collecting.

He is survived by his wife, Janet; son, Phillip “Greg” Miller and wife Linda of Shelbyville, IL: daughter-in-law, Lisa Miller of Pana, IL; Tracy’s companion, Tinia Strode of Shelbyville, IL; brother, Larry Miller of Wesson, MS; four grandchildren, J.R. Geer, Hunter Miller, Jennifer Miller Crowder (Corey), and Aaron Miller; and two great grandchildren, Alexander Peyton Baily and Gus Crowder.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, James R. Miller and Tracy L. Miller; granddaughter, Ashley D. Miller; and sister-in-law, Diane Miller.
