Samuel Richard Adams, 75, of Shelbyville, Illinois, died at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2007 in Shelbyville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Private family graveside services will be held on Friday in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, Illinois with Rev. Kevin R. Knierim officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Howe & Yockey Funeral Home in Shelbyville is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to the American Diabetes Association.

Mr. Adams was born on January 30, 1932 in Columbus, Indiana, the son of Ruey and Vallie Stillwell Adams. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He retired from Cummins Engine Company in Columbus, Indiana in 1985. After his retirement, he was employed by Carpenter Management Company in Shelbyville, Illinois. He married Delores J. Shuff in March 1963.

Surviving are his wife, Delores; son, Richard David Adams of Edinburgh, IN; daughters, Debra E. Middleton and husband Robert of French Lick, IN, Brenda K. Rogers of Mattoon, IL, Susan J. Flesner and husband Lyle of Shelbyville, IL, Sandra J. Stapp and husband Dave of Martinsville, IN, and Linda J. Fox and companion Michael Saylor of Columbus, IN; brother, Ruey C. Adams and wife Rosie of Columbus, IN; sisters, Marie E. Bradley and husband H. Gene of Columbus, IN and Jeanie Adams of Seymour, IN; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
