Shirley June Davis, 79, of Windsor, IL, passed away at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2019 in the Sullivan Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

In keeping with Shirley’s wishes no formal services will be held. Family and friends will gather for a memorial service at Ash Grove Christian Church in rural Windsor at 11 a.m. on Monday May 20, 2019, with a meal to follow. Memorials may be given to the Windsor Ambulance Service or to the family. Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL is in charge of the arrangements.

Shirley was born on March 7, 1940 in rural Windsor, IL, the daughter of Ralph “Abe” and Beulah (Hartsell) Sims. She graduated from Windsor High School and went on to attend Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL and Lake Land College in Mattoon, IL. Shirley married Charles Davis who preceded her in death in 1984. Shirley worked at Shelbyville Memorial Hospital as a Registered Nurse until her retirement in 2007. She previously worked as an EMT for the Windsor Ambulance Service for 10 years and also served as their President for four years. Shirley was an avid reader and enjoyed bowling, needlework and traveling with her mother and nine sisters. She was a member of the Ash Grove Christian Church near Windsor and volunteered at the Adult Literacy Programs at the Storm Memorial Library in Windsor and Lake Land College in Mattoon.

She is survived by her daughters Melody (Rick) Nees of Windsor, IL, Kelli Davis of Greenup, IL, and Kristi Tomlin of Princeton, IL; sisters, Carolyn (Ken) Weigel of Altus, Oklahoma, Marilyn (Ron) Davis of Windsor, Janet (Larry) Watts of Mulberry Grove, Sharon Armstrong of Windsor, Nancy Sims of Tacoma, Washington, Connie (Tom) Dunne of Sullivan, Jeannie (Dennis) Collins of Sullivan, Donna (Dirk) Hyland of Windsor, and Darlene (Chris) McConaha of Windsor; grandchildren, Whitney Pepperdine and Tristan Nees both of Windsor and Quinten and Zachery White both of Princeton; and one great granddaughter on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and infant daughter, Kimberly Davis.
