Tona P. Buhrmester

Tona P. Buhrmester, 80, of rural Shelbyville, IL passed away at 2:25 a.m. Friday, April 7, 2023 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at Glenwood Cemetery, Lookout Addition with Rev. Rob Dillingham officiating. Memorial may be given to First United Methodist Church, Shelbyville, IL. Arrangements are by Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL.
Tona was born on November 28, 1942 in Shelbyville, IL, the daughter of Rex and Maude (Hudson) Donaker. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1961. Tona married Ray Buhrmester on June 11, 1961 at the First United Methodist Church in Shelbyville. Tona was a housewife, and worked for Per-Pack in Kentland, IN, and was a Master Baker for Hardee’s in Shelbyville. She loved to bowl for many years on the Tuesday and Thursday night Women’s’ League, where she made many lasting friendships and won several trophies. She loved to travel with Ray in the United States from New York City to San Francisco and many national parks and Civil War battlefields between. Tona was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Women of the Moose, VFW Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary, all in Shelbyville.
Tona is survived by her husband, Ray; sons, Ray Charles “Chuck” Buhrmester and wife Vicki of Shelbyville, Ricky Lynn “Rick” Buhrmester and wife Sonja of Shelbyville, and Rex Allen Buhrmester and wife Lita of Mechanicsburg, IL; brother, James Donaker (Joyce) of Mulkeytown, IL; four grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Ellanor Ann Donaker and Virginia May Barnett; brother, Phillip Donaker; and brothers-in-law, Donald Buhrmester (Shirley) and Leslie Buhrmester (Grace).
