Virginia K. Cain

Virginia Katherine Cain, 99, of Cowden, IL, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at Heartland Christian Village, Neoga, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 14, 2024, at First Christian Church of Cowden, IL. Pastor Barry West and Chaplain Scott Cain will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be later at Oak Grove Cemetery, near Cowden, IL. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the First Christian Church of Cowden, IL or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Virginia was born on August 23, 1924, in Atlantic City, NJ, the daughter of George Heath and Ethel Harriet (Brooks) Myers. Virginia married William Claude “Bill” Cain on October 28, 1944. He preceded her in death on February 26, 1998. Virginia was a 70-year member of the First Christian Church of Cowden, where she served as church secretary and pianist for many years.
Virginia is survived by her children, Christine Gordon (Jim) of Beecher City, IL, Anita Lorton (Gary) of Cowden, IL, and Scott Cain (Rhonda) of Deltona, FL, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; and half-brother, Robert “Bob” Gilbert.
