Wayne Coventry
(August 10, 1923 – January 20, 2018)

Carroll Wayne Coventry, 94, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away peacefully with his children by his side at 9:00 p.m. Saturday, January 20, 2018 in Shelbyville Manor.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 27, 2018 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Greg Breeden officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in the Findlay Cemetery with military rites by the Clarence Bixler American Legion Post #409 of Findlay, IL. Memorials may be given to the Activity Fund of the Shelbyville Manor.

Wayne was born on August 10, 1923 in Marrowbone Township in Moultrie County, IL, the son of Harry and Tressia Webb Coventry. He graduated from Bethany High School and was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II. Wayne spent many years delivering milk for Holland Dairy in Taylorville, IL, before retiring. He was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan and got to see them win their championship in 2016. He also loved to go fishing, whether it was taking grandchildren to Forest Park in Shelbyville, IL or his children and older grandchildren to Kentucky. He enjoyed playing bingo, dancing and country music. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Eagles Lodge #4395, Moose Lodge #1294 and the Roy Vanderpool American Legion Post #81 all in Shelbyville.

He is survived by his sons, Ron Coventry (Jodi) of Shelbyville, IL, David Coventry of Findlay, IL and Tom Coventry (Chris) of Shelbyville, IL; daughters, Carol Kachmarik (George) of Liberty Center, OH, Karen Garner (Andy) of Shelbyville, IL and Mary Coventry (Kristin) of Chatham, IL; brother, Jack Coventry of Decatur, IL; grandchildren, Reuben and Robert Coventry, Kris Coventry, Jason, Tara and Beth Coventry, Jill George, Stephanie Prater, Brandon Kachmarik, Rachel Dorn, Cassandra Lowe, Maranda Clark and Emily Doster; 19 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, John William Coventry, granddaughter, Kylie Coventry; first wife, Jewell Wade Coventry; five brothers; and three sisters.
